Mexican pre-columbian civilizations stated that without movement there cannot be life. Interestingly, in physics we know the concept of Absolute zero, a temperature so low (-459.67 ºF) that molecules won’t move anymore and thus all forms of life we know would cease to exist.
Movement is life. Travel is movement.
Travel rocks you to your very core! Through initiative, excitement, creativity, planning, improvisation, discovery, surprise, renovation, even reinvention. Those things don’t only make you feel alive, they make you live.
You may not be able to see, but maybe you can feel, you can hear, you can savor. Or maybe you are unable to hear, but may feel too, savor too, maybe you can see. You may not be able to move all of your body, but you still can be there, sharing the gift of life with somebody; enriching, perhaps changing other people’s life with your sole presence.
When we are stuck, we feel anxious, irritable, scared… we become hostile. But when we move, when we let ourselves flow like the water, like water we become clear, refreshing; we might even turn ourselves into agents of calm and healing. For traveling opens our minds, re-connects us with the depths of our hearts, and allows us to touch other people’s souls. That alone is so humanly meaningful.
Travel allows us to know that in spite of all the chaos, there are also plenty of good things and good people to be grateful for. And we come back home more confident about who we are, our place and our mission; more confident about our present, and way more optimistic about the future.
